Nijah
Postpartum Doula | Newborn Care Specialist
Nijah is a postpartum doula that was drawn to the world of birthwork due to her natural ability to nurture and connect
with young children and their caregivers.
As the daughter of a single mother and a member of a community shaped by diverse family dynamics, Nijah has a deep, personal understanding of the challenges that come with raising a child in challenging environments. Nijah’s background inspired her approach providing people-centered care, rooted in empathy and an emphasis on helping caregivers exercise their autonomy and find their inner strength.
Nijah began formally working with families as a STEAM educator for kids 10 years and under, for the Brampton Library as a program assistant. She is a skilled teacher and tutor whose educational and lived experiences cultivated a compassionate and pragmatic method of supporting families.
Nijah strongly believes in maintaining the autonomy of mothers guided by informed decision-making. She aims to offer evidence-backed and culturally rooted healing knowledge to enrich the postpartum experience and empower caregivers to thrive through their next chapter of life.
She has an expansive background working with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, allowing her to be mindful of cultural or social values and potential barriers in accessing care.
With this, her hands-on and intuitive approach to her work can fill the gaps to create a holistic care plan that is all-encompassing but flexible to accommodate a family’s changing needs
