Exploring Your Coverage Options

Nurturing support shouldn't be complicated to access. While OHIP doesn't yet cover doula care directly, many of our families successfully use private insurance, Health Spending Accounts (HSA), and employer wellness funds to reimburse their care. We have deep experience navigating these pathways and will walk beside you to maximize the coverage available to your family.

Every plan is unique, but we frequently see families access coverage through these four pathways:​

Extended Health Benefits

Your typical health insurance policies. Many of which now include specific allowances for doula care. Others cover services when provided under the umbrella of "naturopathic care" or "psychological support." We can help you check your policy wording.

Employer Family-Building Benefits

Companies are increasingly offering third-party benefits (like Carrot Fertility, Forma, Maven etc.) that specifically cover doula and perinatal support. We are experienced in providing the required  documentation for these programs.

Health Spending Accounts (HSA)

These flexible funds are often the easiest way to cover doula support, lactation consulting, and sleep coaching. If you have an HSA, your care with us is almost certainly eligible.

Wellness & Lifestyle Accounts

These are often overlooked, however these taxable spending accounts can frequently be used for "parenting education," "prenatal classes," and "wellness coaching."

That’s why we offer customized payment plans and are committed to creative problem-solving with you. If direct coverage isn't available, we can often structure packages to align with tax-deductible medical expense categories or gift registry options.
